Eurofurence 16 - Consite information 3 of 10

Welcome to a new episode of "Things you might see at Eurofurence".

It is almost certain that every attendee of EF16 will pass through this building at least once and has the opportunity to catch this view.
Still, the ones passing out after partying hard, or taking the time to lounge away from it all for a while have a higher chance to find this gallery.

So, what is this Building ?

FYI: Orycon Concert, Sunday 10:30am

Kore asked me to pass along the following for those at Orycon:
Hope you had a great Turkey Day! Would you remind everyone at AlexanderFans that Alec is doing a "special" concert at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday morning? Since he just got over double hand surgery, he's doing a first of its kind kareoke concert... He recorded the music he wanted to sing to, and will be doing just that--singing. No instruments but the occasional penny whistle.

Happy Thanksgiving to all :)

OMG Crime!

So today I've heard that two murderers escaped from Aachen prison, roughly one hour north of Cologne. It was all over the news. Police has been able to follow them to Cologne, but in Cologne, they lost track of the murderers.

Well, Cologne is a central point with its unidirectional Autobahn connections, a well buildt and maintained public transport system, and multiple large train stations.

I knew the murderers wouldn't be in Cologne to stay. It was so obvious that they just tried to escape into an unknown direction. I shrugged it off, packed my stuff and went to Nightfox's place in Essen Kettwig.

As I arrived, there was an unusually high presence of police, helicopters and stuff. What happened?

Well, the murderers took a hostage, and forced her to drive to...? Yes, to a little village called Essen Kettwig. They dropped off the hostage at a certain place, just a few meters away from Nightfox's house. This happened at exactly THE SAME TIME I arrived at Nightfox's place.

It's sort of scary to realize that they must have been very close the whole time. They were probably sitting in one of the countless cars that passed me by while I was on my way to the same f*cking place.

Nightfox's little village is now all over the news. And I'm sure as hell not going outside to smoke today. :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Come, ye thankful people, come! Raise the song of harvest home! Bless the cup, bless the wine! Toast the sheaf, toast the vine!

May your day be filled with family, friends, memories, and peace. It's not a day of gorging, but of feasting. Remember those who have gone before us, and those yet to come.

Be safe all...

And remember, tomorrow is the day to break out Wintertide for the official start of the Christmas/Winter Solstice holiday!

Eurofurence 16 - City Information 2 of 10

In our ongoing effort to make our guests feel at home at Eurofurence, we would like to inform you about the local distinctions ahead of time.

So don't be surprised when in Magdeburg, trains drive on the street in the entire town, buildings have zebra camouflage, but not right angles, and trees glow in the dark.

Looking forward to see you all in wonderland, and stay tuned for more information.

Love is a Battlefield

mood: giggly

Oh my, I had to laugh so hard during "Battlefield". And to think that I almost missed this because my dear neighbour thought it was "the weakest episode of all".
I thought it was totally hilarious and I liked it a lot. And I also liked that it was - for once - a story that was easily understandable.
Knight Ancelyn was just so adorable in his OH SO LOFTY way. Especially his relationship to Brigadier Winifred was just - well - hilarious. And sweet... somehow.
Honestly, I totally loved it. I also loved the idea to mix up the Arthurian legend with a Science Fiction story. Although the Arthurian characters were a bit implausible, but it was funny. Especially because they were all so declamatory. One just mustn't take it seriously.

One of my favourite quotes:

The Doctor: "I don't play chess... I play poker."
-- pause --
Ace comes hurling in.
The Doctor: "And I got an Ace up my sleeves."

And SPOILER... )

Eurofurence 16 - Consite information 1 of 10

I have been away from LJ since last EF, so it only seems right to return to LJ with a Eurofurence post.

This weekend we had a staff meeting at the new Hotel, and boy will that new location change things for EF.

Today news fact no.1: New toilet paper - behind the cut - )

Lucky Lab Concert

Hi all,

I am planning on coming down from Seattle for the show and was wondering if any locals could suggest a good place to stay and maybe something to do the next day for fun. I am unfamilar with Portland and figured a locals perspective was better than mapquests :-) Thanks all in advance.

The Curse of Fenric

mood: impressed

Now that's what I call a great episode! "The Curse of Fenric" is the third episode with the 7th Doctor I've seen so far and by far the best in my opinion.
I didn't understand everything, but I've given that up after I've seen "Ghost Light" anyway. Better to read through a synopsis afterwards.
I think Ace is such an interesting character. She's the toughest girl around, always carrying some kind of weapon with her, but when she sees a little baby she suddenly turns into a totally girly girl. She also is a living riddle because her past is only revealed bit by tiny bit. Hope the next episode is going to reveal more, as it is the last one I have.
I so love the Doctor's Scottish accent and especially his Rs.

And I think the best love stories are those that never take place but are just hinted at, very subtle and - oh so sweet! I totally loved Captain Sorin giving his insignia to Ace.
The Russians were far cooler than the British anyway. Especially Captain Sorin, of course. I think it adds much to a story to have an adorable male character playing a significant role ;)
Now the next one I'm going to watch is "Survival". We'll see if it beats "The Curse of Fenric". Unfortunately there are really not so much episodes around :(

The different type of Twitter moment:

Sitting in a meeting, posting the word "Booooooring" on Twitter.

Instant response, within less than a minute:

Uhm.... no?
